I can't say. I don't think I'll ever lose complete intrest in the musical, but new shows come around, I find other books to read. When I first got into Wicked, it was all I ever though about, it was the only book I ever read.
I am still a huge fan of Wicked, I go to this board almost everyday, but I now share it with other novels and musicals.

I think it's wise to take a break from Wicked every now and then. Don't get me wrong I am utterly obsessed with Wicked! But if you obsess over it TOO much you'll probably end up getting tired of it until you might even hate it! I've had this happen to me before with other stuff and it wasn't exactly a good thing! Best solution; stop listening to Wicked, watching bootlegs of Wicked, going on Wicked websites or whatever and find a new minor musical obsession! Then, one day, take out the CD again find a surprising joy in hearing all those songs u used to love again, and gradually get obsessed with it again! That's what I do! It ensures that you will never get tired of ithe Wicked goodness!

When I'm older, it won't be that important to me anymore, but of course I'll always like and love it! It's too good of a story to put to the leftover memory bin!! It's also too much a part of me! I'm afraid to admit this...but...Last year, I got really into WICKED, almost at the point of obsession, then my interest in it waned and my WICKED CD was lost in my CD shelf. Come January or so, however, mind you THIS January, something came over me and my interest in WICKED was rekindled. Thereafter, this "interest" turned into an obsession.

I have been interested in Oz since before I could even remember, which I estimate is about fifeteen years. If I have managed to hold on to these stories for so long, I doubt I will ever truly lose my fandom. This recently has included Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. As long as I love The Wizard of Oz, different interpretations will never be too far behind.
However, I agree with Wingedmonkey. Every so often, it is probably healthier to branch off for a while. This allows the fandom to make a fresh restart once you enter back into it. But, do not force yourself into a different interest, ignoring this because you may need to. That creates a loom over yourself.
Eventually, there will come a time when the fanatics are weeded out, and only true fans remain until the next reincarnation.

I third Wingedmonkey. As I'm sure I've told everyone before, I listened to the cast recording every day during the summer of '04. I ate, slept, breathed Wicked, and it got to be very overwhelming. I backed off for a while and obsessed over the Rent movie, but I still had a place in my heart for Wicked. It wasn't until I saw the Tour in Houston on October 28th that I became obsessed with Wicked AGAIN, and I was just as obsessed as before.
Now, though, the obsession's waned, and although I'm insanely excited that I'm going to see Wicked on Broadway on June 28th, I wouldn't consider myself nearly as obsessed as I was. For one thing, my tastes have become more sophisticated since then, and I find that Wicked is weak in some areas that other musicals are not, namely in lyrics. Therefore, since lyrics are very important to me, and since my tastes will no doubt evolve over time, I'll have to say that yes, I will probably lose my interest in Wicked... eventually.

I love this show, sooo much. However, I've gotten to the point where I skip the songs on my iTunes and don't listen to it 24/7. For a while, I stopped listening to that and went to Rent. And then to Stephanie. And then to WICKED again...and then Bob introduced me to BARE, which I've listened to so much the CD is kinda worn. Now that I've joined this forum, I'm being introduced to TONS of new shows, and that will lead to new obsessions. But its this forum that gave me my start and everything, and as long as I belong here, I will love WICKED.
Bob not posting 24/7?? I can't see that coming.

It's hard to say. Wicked is different than my past obsessions, because it's theater, you know? There are people who are dedicating months or years to performing this show nightly. It's not just like being obsessed with a movie or a book or a TV show. It's a completely different medium that teases the line of reality and fiction.
I'm not going to be always thinking about Wicked or coming to fansites or anything for the rest of my life, but whenever I do actually get to see Wicked performed, I will love it.
And that's just the musical obsession. :ha:
The novel? Good Lord. I read the novel before seeing the musical, and I'm not really sure that another book will ever trump it. It seems like the book was made for me, sometimes, just because it touches upon every single subject that I like to think about--good and evil, the workings of the human psyche, afterlife, etc...

Well, Wicked introduced me to musical theater. I am very open to new musicals, and I am not like Wicked "airheads", thinking: Wicked is the only musical in broadway. Nooo, there are a lot of great musicals out there that I enjoy and will watch.Wicked is always going to be my favorite musical, because it changed my life for good. ..
I will be like very soon in the coming days will like tone down my addiction to wicked. i love wicked don't get me wrong. SATs,Grades, etc are getting the way right now. Like I am going to limit myself from watching clips every day in youtube, going here in WoO, and also blasting the soundtrack lol. But no worries for me. Once school is over I will be once again addicted to wicked. I will be reserving my tickets for the matinee performance Weds third week of june, because its the last day of school for me plus its a good way to open summer...
school...

Been there done that. Well, for the most part anyway. Compared to when the show first came out and was I gaga over it, I've pretty much lost all interest. Don't get me wrong, I still think Wicked is a great piece of theatre and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I mean my "Wicked days" hold some very fond memories and without this show I wouldn't know half the people I do today. I haven't seen the show in over a year and I'm doing just fine. Do I plan to see the show in the future? Probably not...well providing Christine Ebersole doesn't get cast as Madame Morrible in the future!. Ok, I lied, I still need to win lotto to see Julia on the broadway even if I do have a number of new shows I've been demanded to see first.

Wicked was the show that sparked my interest in Broadway and introduced to me to somany great shows and people. I've met some of my best friends through the show. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
THAT BEING SAID, I don't love it like I used to. I've seen it 6 times now and each time its flaws have become more and more apparent. When I think about it, Wicked is not the best show ever. It really has tons of flaws, from the book to the lyrics to character development. I have found tons of other shows that are just as important to be as Wicked is to me, but in my opinion, are thousands of times better. I will always love Wicked and it will always have a special place in my heart, but I don't obsess over it that much anymore.
