i saw the show in august and was amazed by the changes shoshana made to the character and songs just from a couple months before (the best change was defying gravity) and several other things in the show such as the orchestrations, lighting, and some lines. why do you think they are all the sudden changes? i'm puzzled.

Drama involves and changes all the time, especially live theatre. That's the beauty of it. No doubt some of the changes were personally, like Sho trying out new depths, etc to her character, whereas the techie things were probably just to keep the show fresh and 'new'.

They do it in response to the audience. If the audience isn't laughing at a part where they are supposed to, they'll change it around to garner and response.

That's what's so neat about theater! In cinema, you can't change around lame dialogue between screenings, but you definitely can in theater.

I like spelling in theatre for some reason.....I think it looks cooler. Isn't that like the British spelling though?

I think it's because Shoshana is getting bored with the show. She already said so her self, so maybe she is just trying ot make it a little more interesting.

I think she has had a lot of time to work on Elphaba and really develop the character. Practice makes perfect!

Am I the only one who has noticed that the orchestra is getting worse?
It's like they're just using minimal instruments-the keyboard is almost the only thing that plays.
Now, Chicago, has the best orchestra- its so brassy.
The tour's sounds just like the recording.
But, NY's sounds like a school production-every time I hear it, it gets worse.

The tour has the best in my opinion. The drum is a lot louder. It makes DG soooo much better!!!

TOUR HAS THE BEST ORCHESTRA!!! then broadway...they could use a bit more practice, but they are probably getting more bored than the actors. chicago...very brassy, which i don't really think is a good thing.

i forgot to add this before. what i REALLY like in the changed orchistrations is in defying gravity when shoshana says "Tell them how I!" then you hear those 4 notes. it sounds great! i need to figure it out so i can play the updated version on piano.
