Is Saint Aelphaba a real saint? I don't mean if she really existed, like is she in some folklore, or did Maguire make her up?

I don't believe so. There is no Saint Aelphaba listed on the list I have of saints.

That's what I thought, I just wasn't sure. Thanks for your quick responses! I was just wondering if it was an ancient cult saint or something... like you know how the catholic church recently got rid of a bunch of the saints because some of them were just basically legends?

Interesting thought! I doubt the whole package came from real myths (her name is obviously made up and her story is meant to mirror Elphaba's), of course, but it might be good to find out if there was ever any kind of water spirit with a similar legend.

She's real to me! I call her Kristy Cates myself though... :ha: :eyebrows:

Saint Aelphaba is actually the Saint of Waterfalls. I find it interesting that Elphaba and Glinda were named after saints.
